What happened?

Since DayZ Stable Update 1.30 (15 October 2026, build 1.30.164078.38), the game has exhibited persistent stuttering, severe frame time spikes, significantly degraded 1% low FPS and intermittent crashes to desktop.

Before the update: Smooth gameplay at 4K Extreme settings, approximately 120 FPS with an NVIDIA driver frame rate cap of 120 FPS.

After the update: Severe frame time instability despite relatively high average FPS. The stuttering significantly disrupts gameplay and persists even when graphics settings are reduced to Low or Poor.

Documented performance

On 20 October 2026 at approximately 11:41 CEST, the following measurements were recorded:

  • Map: Sakhal

  • Official server: 4169, EUROPE DE, 1st Person Only

  • Ping: 9 ms

  • Average FPS: Approximately 97

  • 1% low FPS: Approximately 22–23

These measurements demonstrate a substantial discrepancy between average FPS and 1% lows, corresponding to the severe stuttering visible in the recordings.

The problem has also been reproduced on official servers across Chernarus and Livonia.

Tests performed

  • Reproduced on multiple official, unmodded servers across Chernarus, Sakhal and Livonia.

  • Tested Extreme, High, Medium, Low, Poor and Custom graphics settings. Stuttering persists.

  • Tested Fullscreen and Windowed display modes.

  • Verified Steam game files multiple times.

  • Latest NVIDIA graphics driver installed.

  • Disabled Windows Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS) and restarted the PC. No improvement.

  • Other demanding games run normally on the same system.

System configuration

  • OS: Windows 11

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090

  • RAM: 64 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000 MHz CL30

  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Hero

  • Display: 3840 × 2160, 120 Hz

NVIDIA configuration: 120 FPS driver cap, G-SYNC Compatible, V-Sync controlled by application, Low Latency Mode Off, Power Management Normal, Smooth Motion Off.

Supporting evidence

The following evidence is attached:

1. Inline performance highlights

  • Highlight 1: 20 October 2026, approximately 11:41 CEST. Sakhal, official server 4169. Five-second recording demonstrating visible stuttering and substantially degraded 1% lows.

  • Highlight 2: 20 October 2026, approximately 11:54:27 CEST. Sakhal, official server 4169. Three-second recording demonstrating severe stuttering during camera movement.

2. Additional gameplay recordings

Recordings document persistent stuttering, degraded 1% lows and comparisons between Custom/Extreme and Low/Poor graphics settings.

These include gameplay captured on Sakhal (official server 4169) and Livonia (official server 3986).

An additional recording documents a crash to desktop shortly after connecting to Chernarus (official server 3764) on 18 October 2026 at approximately 21:49 CEST.

3. Video Evidence Index (PDF)

The attached PDF identifies each recording by date, time, map, official server and exact filename, allowing the recordings to be matched directly with their descriptions and diagnostic logs.

All timestamps are in CEST (UTC+2). Recording timestamps identify the beginning of the original recordings; highlight event times are approximate.

4. Diagnostic logs

Two ZIP archives contain the corresponding RPT, error and script logs:

  • 18 October 2026: Chernarus crash session.

  • 20 October 2026: Performance and graphics settings testing session.

Related performance issue

DZG-1299 documents performance degradation following Update 1.30 on PC, reported on a community server.

The present report documents similar symptoms across multiple official, unmodded servers on Chernarus, Sakhal and Livonia.

Whether the issues share an underlying cause remains undetermined.

Reproduction steps
  1. Launch DayZ 1.30 Stable.

  2. Connect to an official server.

  3. Move through the environment and rotate the camera while monitoring frame times and 1% low FPS.

  4. Observe recurring stuttering and frame time spikes.

  5. Change graphics settings. The issue persists.

  6. Repeat on other official servers or maps.
