Currently, friendly player nameplates in 3D space show generic indicators (a diamond ◆ for regular squadmates and a star ★ for Squad Leaders).
It would greatly improve squad coordination and situational awareness if the game displayed specific class/role icons (e.g., Medic, Anti-Tank, Machine Gunner, Engineer) next to or inside the player nameplate symbol when looking at allies at close proximity.
Rationale / Why it's needed:
Better Coordination: In high-intensity combat, players need to quickly locate a nearby Medic or Anti-Tank soldier without having to ask over local radio or check the map squad list.
Consistency: The system already supports role-specific symbols (like the Squad Leader star icon). Extending this to special military roles feels like a natural evolution of the current UI.
Suggested Implementation:
Replace or supplement the default diamond (◆) nameplate symbol with class-specific NATO or simplified icons (e.g., cross for Medic, rocket symbol for AT) when a friendly player is within close range (e.g., <15–20 meters).
Keep distant nameplates minimal to avoid visual clutter.
Additional Information: Attached screenshots demonstrate the existing distinction between regular squadmates (◆) and Squad Leaders (★).
