Vehicle physics are broken in this new update, you can replicate this by taking the s105 and turning on a flat surface at just 40kmh, the vehicle flips over, all cars now lack understeer, at high speed the steering is too abrupt/strong, at least add a speed sensitivity slider to fix this, but the correct way would be to bring the physics back to what they were on 1.6, there was no need to update them if it was to make them worse. another way to test this is to hit a small jump and steer, the car will not understeer at all and it will shoot in the way you're pointing.
I fully agree with you. I already complained about the physics when it was still on the experimental build, before they pushed it to the main version, and this is just fucking awful. They completely ruined the physics. It killed my desire to play Arma Reforger at all.
I feel like the physics in 1.6 were fine, good, very realistic even.
The only issue I had with the physics was that it seems like it is being calculated in parallel on the server as on the client, and it causing rubberbanding/back-and-forth frames that would look horrible and would annoy the shit out of me.
I also liked the heavier steering, especially because I imagined no power steering being available during the time period in which Reforger is set (though I might think they did have power steering in the mid-80's). Now it just plays like GTA V.
Reforger players need to start raising hell and demand that the vehicle physics are brought back to how they were, because this is unacceptable. It killed the desire to play. Vehicles are a core part of this game, and when they become this much of a mess, it stops being the Arma that earned its reputation and always stood out from other games in this genre.
The only aspect of the game that didn't cause any complaints was completely destroyed by the ridiculous attempt to simplify vehicle behavior. Please restore the car physics that existed before the 1.7 update
Why the hell did they even simplify the physics? For new players? The physics weren’t difficult, they were just something many people weren’t used to. But now they didn’t make it simpler — they made it unpredictable.
Vehicles are basically impossible to control now. I’d rather slide into a bush because the car understeered than flip over and probably end up stuck there after losing the vehicle like an idiot.
They’re trying to make the game easier for newcomers, while the game already has tons of other complex systems where vehicle physics are barely even the problem. But instead of keeping what made Arma feel like Arma, they decided to please new players and shit all over the veterans.
And honestly, I’m glad the Arma community isn’t the type to just shut up and accept this. People are actually speaking up about the problems, and that means there’s still a chance to get this fixed. That’s exactly why the community needs to keep raising the alarm and pushing for the vehicle physics to be brought back to a proper state.
