I feel like the way this is implemented still gives away a player's position pretty easily in open fields. It simply matches the color of the ground as a whole, rather than making the soldier transparent against the ground and gradually decreasing transparency based on the height of the cover. With every little move, a target becomes instantly easy to spot, defeating the purpose of the feature.
Reasoning: If I can hide in a wheat field—completely blinded and impossible to spot from within the grass render distance—I shouldn't suddenly become visible from beyond that render distance.
