I am experiencing an issue where my microphone initially works correctly in Arma Reforger, but after a short time it stops transmitting any audio.
My hardware uses the Realtek ALC4080 audio codec on an MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK WIFI motherboard. The microphone is a Beyerdynamic MMX 330 Pro connected to the motherboard's analog microphone input. Windows detects it as "MMX 330 Pro Microphone (Realtek USB Audio)".
The microphone works without any issues in Windows, Discord and other applications.
Actual behavior
After joining a server, voice communication initially works normally. After a few seconds or minutes, other players can no longer hear me.
The VON/PTT indicator still appears normally when I press the Push-to-Talk key, so the game still detects the PTT input. However, no microphone audio is transmitted.
The microphone continues to work normally in Discord and Windows at the same time.
Both direct/proximity voice and radio communication are affected.
Expected behavior
The microphone should continue transmitting audio for the entire game session.
Steps to reproduce
Start Arma Reforger.
Join an official unmodded Conflict server.
Use the microphone via VON.
Voice communication initially works.
Continue playing for a short period.
After a few seconds/minutes, other players can no longer hear the microphone.
The VON/PTT indicator still appears, but no audio is transmitted.
Troubleshooting performed
Tested on an official unmodded server.
Tested with a completely new Arma Reforger profile.
Verified that the microphone is the Windows default input and default communications device.
Explicitly assigned the MMX 330 Pro microphone to Arma Reforger in the Windows Volume Mixer.
Verified Windows microphone permissions.
Microphone continues working correctly in Discord and Windows while the issue occurs in Reforger.
Restarting/rejoining temporarily restores microphone functionality.
The same hardware and microphone setup previously worked correctly in Arma Reforger for approximately 40 hours of gameplay before this issue suddenly started occurring.
Workaround
Using SteelSeries Sonar completely resolves the issue.
Physical microphone:
MMX 330 Pro Microphone (Realtek USB Audio)
→ SteelSeries Sonar virtual microphone
→ Arma Reforger
When Arma Reforger uses SteelSeries Sonar - Microphone as the input device, the microphone continues working normally.
When Reforger directly uses MMX 330 Pro Microphone (Realtek USB Audio), the issue occurs again.
This suggests that the issue may be related to Reforger's direct audio capture from the Realtek ALC4080 / Realtek USB Audio input device.
