Description

I have a Ryzen 9 5900X

ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3080

32GB DDR4 ram running at 3600 MT/s

My motherboard is an ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero

I am connected to the internet via Ethernet cable

While I am playing, at random my game completely freezes for anywhere between 5 seconds to several minutes. Sometimes it will recover on its own, sometimes it crashes. It doesn't matter what I am doing at the time, it is completely random, at least it seems that way. Sometimes I can go a while without it happening, other times it happens within 5 minutes of joining a server and selecting a kit. I haven't seen it happen while dead or on the spawn screen yet. I also have very bad frame drops and average FPS, I am lucky to get 60 FPS in most cases.

I have tried reinstalling several times.
Downloaded the mods again, and into a different folder on a NVMe SSD

I have under clocked my GPU both power and speed

I have used Process Lasso to change CPU affinity to only use select cores/threads which did work for about an hour, but it still happened anyway

I have changed my graphics settings to any and every possible combination, but it 1. doesn't change my FPS no matter what settings I have - I always get FPS drops and sub 50 FPS at times, and 2. doesn't make a difference with this issue.

I don't run with any overlays enabled

This really started after an update made a few years ago, which before that I had no issues with the same PC. It isn't a matter of my PC is getting old either - it still runs any other game perfectly.

I think I get better performance on Arma 3 KOTH servers than I do in this game now, which really sucks because this is a great game. Just if the freezing issue was gone, it would be fine. It is frustrating when I am in a firefight or intense situation and my game randomly freezes right when I am about to shoot someone or save an ally. Often times if I do manage to unfreeze, I have been frozen for so long that I have already fully died and am on the spawn select screen. This issue also means I can't try flying because I would most likely crash kill my teammates.

Edit because I forgot to mention that during the freeze, my CPU usage jumps up like 10-20%, and my GPU usage drops to 1-0%. My temps are fine both during gameplay and during the freeze.
