Indeed, when you follow them in a certain proximity/render range, they work perfectly, but as soon as you disappear from the proximity range, they immediately leave the truck and walk to the destination, the only way to get them back is to get help from the game master and move them back to the truck and they work again. I thought it was the dynamic despawn setting and it's not, there really is something else in the new patch.
Anyway, currently very unplayable for solo play.
