Starting suddenly today, buildings and trees began switching to very low-detail geometry/LOD at unusually short distances. This was not happening earlier the same day and the game previously rendered normally.
The issue is extremely noticeable at approximately 165 metres. Buildings beyond this distance use a much lower-quality model even with Object Detail and Object Visibility set to Extreme.
Holding the middle mouse button to zoom immediately causes the same building to switch to the correct high-detail model without moving any closer. This also happens to trees. Even buildings more than 500 metres away can immediately switch to a much higher-detail LOD when zoomed.
This does not appear to be normal distance-based LOD behaviour because:
The issue began suddenly after previously working normally.
The transition happens at approximately the same short distance.
MMB zoom instantly restores the correct high-detail geometry.
Object Detail / Object Visibility on Extreme do not fix it.
Manually increasing sceneComplexity above the Extreme preset did not change the LOD cutoff.
I have already doneextensive troubleshooting with no change:
Deleted and regenerated the Documents\DayZ configuration.
Verified DayZ files through Steam.
Completely uninstalled DayZ and removed all Workshop mods.
Deleted leftover DayZ files and performed a fresh vanilla installation.
Tested without mods.
Reset Steam userdata / disabled Steam Cloud.
Clean-installed the NVIDIA graphics driver and reset NVIDIA profiles.
Tested High and Extreme Object Detail / Object Visibility.
Tested both first-person and third-person.
Tested different view-distance values.
The issue remains exactly the same after all of the above.
System:
Ryzen 7 7700X
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB
32 GB RAM
2560×1440
Windows 11
NVIDIA Game Ready Driver 616.92
DayZ 1.29.163709
Any potential fix would be appreciated.
(Also, I tested this both in a server and in vanilla. Same thing,)
