When launching DayZ through the Microsoft Store / Xbox App on Windows 11, BattlEye fails to install and start its service.

The following errors appear:

Failed to install BattlEye Service (4, 500000d8)

and:

Failed to start BattlEye Service (216)

The BattlEye service is created, but Windows cannot start it.

After completely deleting the BEService service and the folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\BattlEye

and then restarting Windows and launching DayZ again, the game recreates the BattlEye files, but the same issue occurs.

The recreated BEService.exe starts with the following bytes:

D0-0D-26-DB-2D-5B-A2-79-00-98-CF-38-31-A5-26-64

instead of the normal Windows PE "MZ" header.

Windows Service Control Manager then fails to start BEService with Win32 error 216.

• Install DayZ through the Microsoft Store / Xbox App on Windows 11 64-bit.

• Launch DayZ from the Xbox App.

• BattlEye attempts to install/start the BattlEye Service.

• The error "Failed to install BattlEye Service (4, 500000d8)" appears.

• BattlEye may also report "Failed to start BattlEye Service (216)".

• Check the BEService service in Windows. It is created but remains stopped.

• Trying to start it manually with sc.exe start BEService results in Windows error 216.

• Deleting the BattlEye service and its Common Files folder, restarting Windows, and launching DayZ again causes the same issue to be reproduced.

DayZ should install and start the BattlEye Service successfully when launched through the Microsoft Store / Xbox App.

BEService should start normally without Windows error 216, and DayZ should launch with BattlEye enabled without displaying error (4, 500000d8).
