Removing device ID information from server logs significantly reduces the ability of console server administrators to effectively manage and moderate their communities. Console servers already lack many of the administrative and diagnostic tools available to PC server operators, making server logs a critical source of operational information.
Without a persistent device identifier, administrators have substantially less ability to identify repeat offenders, investigate ban evasion, correlate incidents, and distinguish between players using changing display names. This directly increases the administrative burden on server owners while reducing their ability to maintain a safe and properly moderated environment.
If additional privacy protections are required, they should be implemented without removing the functionality necessary for legitimate server administration. For console servers in particular, removing device identification from logs represents a significant loss of an already limited administrative capability.
