Current Behavior
Players can put away items using their assigned hotbar keys. However, when holding an item that is not assigned to a hotbar slot, they generally need to open the inventory and manually move it out of their hands.
This makes a simple and frequently used action unnecessarily cumbersome.
Suggestion
Add a dedicated, customizable keybind called "Put Away Item" that automatically moves the currently held item into the player's inventory.
Suggested behavior:
Pressing the assigned key moves the held item into an available inventory slot.
The action works regardless of whether the item is assigned to the hotbar.
If there is insufficient inventory space, the item remains in the player's hands.
The action never drops the item onto the ground automatically.
Inventory Full Indicator
If the player presses the "Put Away Item" key while there is insufficient inventory space, display a brief visual indicator.
For example:
Show a small inventory or backpack icon indicating insufficient space.
Display the indicator for approximately 1–2 seconds before it automatically disappears.
Keep the currently held item in the player's hands.
Avoid interrupting gameplay with additional menus or confirmation dialogs.
This would provide immediate feedback, helping players understand why the action could not be completed.
Benefits
Reduces unnecessary inventory interactions.
Makes inventory management faster and more intuitive.
Provides consistent behavior for all items, including those not assigned to the hotbar.
Prevents accidentally dropping valuable items.
Clearly communicates when insufficient inventory space prevents the action.

This proposal additionally suggests a visual inventory-full indicator to improve player feedback when the action cannot be completed.
