Problem Description
Since the latest small update to the stable version of DayZ, the game has become completely unplayable.
Before this update, the game was working normally, including after the major update. The problem started after a smaller patch released around October 21, 2026.
When I try to connect to any server, the screen goes black before the actual loading screen appears. The DayZ_x64.exe process then starts consuming an excessive amount of RAM until nearly all of my 32 GB of system memory is used. The game eventually crashes or freezes, and Steam may also crash or restart.
The DZSA Launcher has also crashed with the following exception:
System.OutOfMemoryException
Steam has crashed with the following error:
Faulting application: steamwebhelper.exe
Faulting module: KERNELBASE.dll
Exception code: 0xe0000008
Troubleshooting Already Performed
Verified the integrity of the game files through Steam.
Removed all mods and tested without mods.
Tested the game on multiple servers, including official servers.
Tested with a fresh DayZ configuration.
Restarted the computer and tested again.
Confirmed that other games run normally.
Confirmed that DayZ Experimental works normally, without the excessive RAM usage or crashes.
System Specifications
Expected Result
The stable version of DayZ should load normally and allow me to connect to servers without excessive memory consumption or crashes.
Actual Result
The stable version displays a black screen before loading, consumes nearly all available system RAM, and eventually crashes. Steam may also crash or restart.
DayZ Experimental works normally on the same computer, which suggests that the issue may be specific to the current stable version or its interaction with the system.
Request
Please investigate a possible memory leak or regression introduced by the latest stable update. The issue makes the stable version of DayZ completely unplayable on my system.
