Since update 1.30 the client crashes with STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xC0000005) when a town or a wide view comes into sight, or while moving fast across the map (e.g. vppadmin free cam). The game freezes for a moment and closes. No crash_*.log or .mdmp is written, and the RPT/error log just ends.
I have played on the same PC with the same settings for about 2 years without a single crash. The crashes started with 1.30.
Crash signature:
The Windows Application log (Event ID 1000) shows the same fault offset every time. Only the ASLR base changes, and the low bits are always ...2728:
- 0x00007ff7c2fb2728, 0x00007ff67ae72728 (several times), 0x00007ff794892728, earlier 0x...c4f42728
- Faulting application: DayZ_x64.exe, faulting module: "unknown", exception code: 0xc0000005
- WER report: Fehlermodulname: StackHash_0000 (no module list or stack, probably because of BattlEye). A LocalDumps registry key was set, but no dump was written.
So it looks like the same instruction in DayZ_x64.exe every time.
Video settings:
3840x2160 fullscreen, viewDistance 10000, preferredObjectViewDistance 3200, sceneComplexity 1000000, terrainGrid 3.125, TexQuality 4, shadowQuality 3, MSAA 4, AToC 1, FXAA 2, VSync on.
Ruled out:
- NVIDIA overlay off, Discord closed, Xbox Game Bar closed: still crashes.
- Updated GPU driver: still crashes.
- Verified game files via Steam: still crashes.
- Mods: also crashes with only CF + VPPAdminTools loaded (no other mods). (Update this line if you reproduce it fully vanilla.)
- Not a hardware fault, I think: the crash is at the same instruction every time, and the system is stable in other games and in DayZ before 1.30.
System:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 (driver 617.42)
- RAM: 64 GB
- OS: Windows 11 Pro (build 26200)
