Hello DayZ Dev Team,
I’d like to provide feedback and report several issues related to the controller sensitivity, deadzone, and curvature settings in DayZ. These issues affect fine aiming precision, movement control, and the overall consistency of gamepad input.
⸻
1. Sensitivity Slider and Deadzone Interaction
When lowering the sensitivity value, the in-game deadzone (the minimum thumbstick tilt required to register movement) increases, even though the actual deadzone slider setting remains unchanged.
• This makes small or precise stick movements difficult at lower sensitivity values.
• It appears that the sensitivity setting may be unintentionally linked to the input threshold.
⸻
2. Curvature Slider Issues
There are several problems with the curvature slider’s functionality:
1. Deadzone Interaction – Lowering the curvature value increases the in-game deadzone, despite the curvature slider being intended only to adjust the response curve (sensitivity scaling relative to stick tilt). The curvature setting should control input linearity, not the deadzone itself.
2. Inconsistent Response – Changes to curvature often produce minimal or inconsistent in-game effects, making it difficult to achieve predictable aiming behavior.
⸻
3. Deadzone Slider Calibration Issue
The deadzone slider allows adjustment from 0 to 100, but setting it to 0 does not actually result in a true zero deadzone. Even with all related settings maximized to achieve the lowest possible deadzone, there remains approximately 12% of stick movement that fails to register.
• This suggests the base deadzone floor is too high, preventing users from achieving full analog precision.
• Players who prefer minimal deadzone control for finer movement and aim adjustments are particularly affected.
⸻
Summary
• Lowering sensitivity unintentionally increases the effective in-game deadzone.
• Lowering curvature also increases deadzone, despite being designed to adjust only the sensitivity curve.
• Curvature changes produce inconsistent results.
• The deadzone slider’s minimum setting (0) still applies around 12% deadzone, making true zero input unattainable.
⸻
Impact:
These issues collectively make controller fine-tuning inconsistent and hinder players who rely on precise analog input for aiming or movement.
Thank you for your time and for continuing to improve DayZ.
Best regards,
