What happened?
There is an issue in DayZ; and I believe it is an issue that is binding you most distinctly.
The process for feature implementation is wrong, and it's griefing you.
Currently: Realsim (this is the focus), -> game (shying away from gamified elements, but still using them), -> feature
Proposal: Feature (design a feature), -> gamify (make it something people want to do, make it simple), -> Realism (polish it up and make it more realistic)
Much of DayZ is gamified, but it's shy, for instance the bear hat and fox hat. In real life, preserving a bear head or making a fox hat is an involved process that takes patience, and close observation. (Skill isn't really a factor because if you pay attention you will figure it out and make something good.) Development is shyly gamified as the last step sprinkling gamified elements on top. This is a huge bottleneck for DayZ development, why bind yourself in this fashion?
Outline the base feature (what is the end product? ONLY) -> How do we get there as quickly and simply as possible? -> Polish with realism ------> (much later) Crank up with realism
Currently you're trying to bring reality to DayZ as the first step of the dev process; reality is more than quantum you've lost before you started. Instead, create the game you will LOVE and then add as much realism as you can stand after you have the feature,(the product,) in your mind.
I'm a feature treasurer, I don't care about graphics as much, but I understand that you all cannot bear to release something in the current year that isn't matching state or up to standard for the current DayZ look and feel. I respect that; maybe you could reinvent it then? A surplus of features would cast a shadow over any amount of graphics.
This entire enquiry would be better sat on a forum where communication is encouraged and accomodated.
Thank you for your time; please consider releasing a standalone binary for DayZ tools that does not need to run through steam, (for users who are not on WindowsOS). Also please consider releasing a tool users can utilize to open p3d files in blender. (There is an addon for Arma Reforger; but this is innacessible to users who only have DayZ.)
Reproduction steps
#include <stdio.h>
int main(){
char nothing[4]="N/A";
printf("%s", nothing);
return 0;
