Issue:
When playing Reforger with friends, I have an issue where the microphone does not work, or works for a minute or so and then stops working. The transmit button still shows the talking icon on the left side of the screen, but my voice does not transmit. My microphone works normally in other software such as discord, teamspeak, other games, etc. Only in Reforger is this an issue. I experience this issue on multiple servers, modded or unmodded, it makes no difference.
Hardware & Software Considerations:
Realtek ALC4082 is the sound device powering the microphone and it is a standard 3.5mm input unpowered Sennheiser headset. I do not believe the hardware is at fault. O/S is Windows 10 64 Bit, audio drivers are up to date.
Steps taken:
I have been fighting with this issue for over a year, I do not know exactly when it started. I have attempted to go into the windows audio settings and force the microphone input for Reforger, I've tried playing with the security settings as some people have suggested that might be an issue, none of these have worked. I have uninstalled Reforger and reinstalled and deleted my profile, and upon reinstalling it worked for a time and then stopped working again.
I have tried multiple microphone inputs (direct motherboard & front panel), no difference is made.
Notes:
One thing of note that is probably connected. When I launch ARMA Reforger with my headset selected as the audio device, Reforger goes mute. I have to go back into the audio settings and reselect headset as the output I have audio. Reforger audio works fine, and then I'll get into a multiplayer game, talk for a minute and mid-sentence my mic will cut out and people can't hear me.
One thing that would probably help with this is have some in-game audio settings where the input and output can be controlled from in-game. Reforger somehow is not detecting the microphone or doing something else to break it.
