Feature request / UX improvement
Category: Multiplayer / Workshop / Host game
Platform: PC (player-hosted / listen server)
Summary
When hosting a scenario from the client, the Host window Mods tab only lets you enable or disable each installed mod individually. The Workshop already has a Mod Manager with named presets. Please let the host apply (or pick) a preset as the server mod set, instead of rebuilding the list every time.
Current behavior
Open Scenarios → Host on a mission.
Open the Mods tab.
Enable or disable each local/Workshop mod by hand.
Host.
The same game already has Workshop → Mod Manager (puzzle icon) with presets, enable/disable, load order, and a JSON export used by dedicated servers. That workflow is not available on the Host screen.
Problem
Players with more than a handful of addons have to hunt through a long list every session.
Easy to miss a dependency or leave on a leftover mod from another night.
Dedicated servers already get a curated list (config mods array / copied preset JSON). Listen-server hosts do the same work the hard way.
People keep separate setups (vanilla Conflict, RHS GM, custom Workshop scenario). Switching means reticking dozens of boxes.
Proposed solution
On the Host → Mods tab:
Add a Preset dropdown that lists saved Mod Manager presets.
Choosing a preset enables exactly those mods (and their required dependencies) for this hosted session.
Keep the current per-mod toggles as an override after the preset is applied.
Optional but useful:
Apply current Mod Manager selection (whatever is enabled in Workshop right now).
Show which preset is active.
Warn if the chosen scenario’s parent mod is not in the preset.
Remember the last preset used for that scenario.
Do not force presets. Vanilla / empty list should still be one click.
Why this fits existing systems
The data already exists: preset name, mod IDs, versions, load order, JSON export. Hosting only needs to consume the same list the dedicated-server config already uses. This is wiring the Host UI to Workshop presets, not a new mod format.
Who benefits
Anyone hosting from the client for friends: Game Master nights, Workshop scenarios, and small private Conflict games. It also reduces “why didn’t that vehicle/faction load?” joins caused by a missed checkbox.
Suggested acceptance
Host a scenario.
Select a named preset on the Mods tab.
Only those mods load for host and joiners.
Changing one toggle after applying a preset still works.
Hosting with no preset / all off still works as vanilla.
