Were you outside of the range of a re-transmitter (relay station or radio tower) at the time you tried it? If so, there is currently a bug where the radios don't work correctly without a re-transmitter in range, such that you cannot receive signal even from a guy on your frequency 5 meters away. Cycling the power on the radio (G > select radio > R to switch off > R again to switch on) everytime after spawning should fix that issue

i am unsure, ive only picked up the game a few days ago so im not really sure what that is, me and a friend were playing combat ops - everon which spawns you with radios. I was able to hear them when they talked on the radio so i suppose we were within range of a re-transmitter. i did the dropping/picking up and turning off/on since i saw that as a potential fix online and that didnt seem to do anything, i even traded radios with my friend to see but same result.

Can this also be reproduced on Windows? As currently Linux client is not supported on our end.

I dont have access to a Windows PC so I can't confirm.

Can confirm same happens on PC and PS5. Vanilla Servers or modded - no difference. The "hack" mentioned above does work from time to time, but in general, radio comms are broken since 1.8.

can confirm, i was finally able to get the radio by turning the radio on and off rapidly because i realized that the on/off options are flipped. after making sure the radio says "press F to turn off" dropping the radio on the floor and equiping it off the floor seems to inconsistantly work. had to do it like 5 times for it to magically decide to work. hopefully this gets fixed soon because gosh it is annoying to have to deal with...
