There is an issue with AI target engagement ranges. AI soldiers can detect players at extreme distances (around 1 kilometer) and immediately open full combat engagement, even when equipped with standard iron-sighted rifles or small arms.
Firing at targets at this distance is highly ineffective, causing the AI to waste vital ammunition and reveal their tactical positions to enemy forces prematurely.
Steps to Reproduce:
Position an AI squad with line-of-sight to a player at a distance of ~800m – 1000m.
Allow the AI to detect the player.
Observe the AI immediately opening fire instead of holding fire, taking cover, or closing the distance.
Expected Result: AI should assess effective weapon range and engagement conditions before opening fire, holding their position or stalking targets until within an effective lethality zone.
Actual Result: AI immediately engages targets over 1km away, revealing their squad position and depleting their ammo reserves with low-probability shots.
