Better View Distance - https://reforger.armaplatform.com/workshop/B597D022F33EA9DC-BetterViewDistance

Description

Found while migrating my 'Better View Range Mod' to 1.8, also observable in Vanilla to a lesser degree.

A thin outline along the model's silhouette does not receive the blend and remains visibly darker than the surrounding field.

At closer ranges this outline makes up a relatively small portion of the model's visible silhouette. At longer ranges, which my mod enables, the issue becomes a lot clearer

Repro-Steps:

1. Place a character, stance is irrelevant, in a large wheat field (I used Everon, placing myself at Western Heights, looking at the wheat fields by Simons woods primarily, this is roughly 2.5 km).
2. Observe the character through a magnified optic at a distance of your choice, anything above 1000m highlights this issue quite clearly (extend view distance as needed to keep the character rendered via my mod).
3. The inner portion of the far-hidden entity blends in with the field, but even at close range the thin dark outline is visible, it become more visible, the further away the entity is (it takes up a disproportionate amount of the entity at high range)

Hypothesis:

Testing suggests the blend is 'surface-normal-weighted' (top-down projection): up-facing surfaces conceal correctly, near-vertical surfaces receive little or no blend.

Observations:

- A prone body blends well across its interior.

- The outline follows the silhouette-edge, and varies with body orientation relative to the viewer consistent with normal-weighting, not with an AA/coverage artifact.

- A standing characters legs remain visible (both at modded and unmodded ranges), within vanilla viewranges, at the edge of what you see in vanilla, it is still quite noticeable.

- A lead I had was Shadow-Based issues, but it yielded no change, when adjusting shadow quality.

- Forcing different LODs helped a marginal amount, but didn't yield a proper resolution.

For characters beyond grass draw distance you should consider blending toward full albedo replacement below the grass-height line, so surfaces may be fully hidden.

Additional findings from my modding:

1. Even on static objects/vehicles the Far-Hide feature struggles to fully fill the 'hidden' portions of the object (this is a feature added by my mod). The same silhouette outline is present there. Consider enabling the flag on fortification/military-prop base materials in vanilla with 1.8's deployables.

2. FarHideSystemSettings (Enable/AnisoFiltering/GrassHeightMul/DistanceBlendMul) exists in the engine binary but is not exposed through any script-accessible settings container. It's present in neither GetEngineUserSettings() (14 modules) nor GetGameUserSettings() (21 modules). No shipped config data either, it's hardcoded.

Request:
Unlock the aforementioned engine settings for modding, so either by running something like my own mod on a server or whatever solution players/server-owners may choose.
