Mouse steering, even when enabled in gameplay settings, appears nonfunctional regardless of vehicle. Enabling the setting disables freelook (except while holding ALT) in the driver's seat, but the steering wheel does not respond to mouse inputs. Verified no mods are running, as this bug occurs even on official multiplayer servers.
Tested on:
Attempted fixes, none of which worked:
Restarting the game before and after changing the setting
Changing the setting while inside a vehicle
Changing the setting at the main menu and starting a game
Changing the "vehicle driving assist" setting to any value
Changing the "controller free look in vehicles" setting to any value
Changing the "steering speed sensitivity" setting to any value
Reinstalling Reforger experimental branch via Steam
Resetting all keybinds to default
There seems to be a VERY BRIEF period of time where mouse-steering works correctly, right after the vehicle entering animation is completed, but afterwards the view is locked and mouse steering no longer works correctly.
Attached is a video demonstrating the problem (as best as possible, anyways). It occurs in an official multiplayer server (which should preclude the possibility of mods interfering), shows the keybindings being reset to defaults, shows the setting being enabled, and then shows mouselook working as expected (proving the mouse is correctly reading inputs). Take notice of the fact that rapidly looking left and right while entering shows that the steering wheel position updates very briefly right after entering, but then stops responding to further mouse inputs. The instance in the video where the steering wheel moves was done using the A and D keys, showing that the steering does work, just not with mouse movement.
