Summary
Currently, any item that has its own inventory (backpacks, bags, cases, and other containers with nested item slots) cannot be opened directly while it is placed inside a storage box (chest). Players first have to take the container out of the box, open it separately, and only then interact with its contents.
Requested behavior
Allow opening any container-type item directly from inside a box/chest — not just backpacks, but any item that holds its own inventory (bags, cases, pouches, etc.) — so its contents can be viewed and manipulated (moved, sorted, added, removed) without having to remove the container from the box first. This should also work for containers nested inside other containers (e.g., a bag inside a backpack inside a box), if the game supports that level of nesting.
Why this matters
- Saves time and reduces unnecessary steps when managing storage.
- Makes it easier to use containers as sub-organizers within a box.
- Improves overall inventory management UX across all container types, not just backpacks.
Suggested implementation
When a player interacts with any container-type item that is inside a box (or inside another container), open a nested inventory window for that item's contents alongside the parent inventory, similar to how containers work when opened from the player's own inventory. Item drag-and-drop between the box, the container, and the player's inventory should work as expected at any nesting level.
