SwitchUp is a highly regarded Switch game analysis channel and at timestamp 9:14 they also mention three crashes.

It seems I am not alone in this issue.

Same thing happened to me, completely lost my 5 hour character to a random crash! I had a scar and didn't even use it😭

I have played for a couple of hours now on switch 2 and I feel like I have more than one crash per hour. Sometimes I go a full hour without a crash and sometimes I go 10 minutes between crashes.

Seems to happen at random, I have almost only played in docked mode and on official servers.

Ive play really only on docked aswell and it's fine for me, but on high pop servers it's much more common idkw, and when zooming to a large city or far treeline.

I got all my crashes when playing on a 20-30+ populated server. Played on a server with 2-6 players on it for a couple of hours this morning and got no crashes.

Ah interesting, that might help the devs pinpoint a bit. I play on the highest populated servers and have only played on those so might explain why it happens so often for me.

UPDATE: No way to get video footage at all since as soon as the crash occurs you are technically not in-game thus cannot capture previous 30 seconds.

Recording on phone wouldn't work since the crashes are so random I would not be able to pull out my phone and record in time to see the crash.

Though I'm limited by the evidence I can provide to the Bohemia team and yourself concerning the crashes. Is there anything I can do via the Switch 2 version that would improve your fault finding? The comments so far seem to indicate it happens more on high population servers but that's the best we can go off right now. It makes me wonder what will happen once more players buy the game and the servers start filling up to the max player count.

I've uploaded a crash I managed to capture. It did not provide an error message and shut down like the usual crashes but instead froze the game completely until I had to close the game manually via the Switch 2 menu. I lost the car as it hit a tree as a result once I rejoined haha..
