this is more a suggestion for dayz 2 but can't find anywhere else to post that the devs might actually see.
I think it would be really interesting to have a delayed death replay/killcam system in DayZ.
The idea would be that after you die, you could watch a short replay of the events leading up to your death from the killer’s perspective — but only after a significant delay, for example 24 hours.
The delay would be important because it would prevent players from using the replay to immediately locate or track the person who killed them. It would simply let you understand what actually happened.
For example, you might die and have no idea where the shot came from. The following day, you could watch a 10–20 second replay showing where the killer was, how they spotted you, and how they made the kill.
It could potentially show:
The final 10–20 seconds before your death
The killer’s perspective
The weapon used and distance
Where the shot came from
The events immediately leading up to the kill
I think this would fit DayZ really well because it wouldn't remove the tension or uncertainty of dying in the moment. Instead, it would give players a chance to learn from their deaths and understand some of the encounters they otherwise never get answers to.
The 24-hour delay could also make it something fun to look back on rather than something that affects live gameplay.
It could be an optional feature, and the replay could be limited to prevent revealing unnecessary information about the killer’s movements or base.
